Abstract

The period that includes the first thousand days of life of an infant is considered of vital importance for the development of organs and tissues, for this reason periodic controls should be performed to rule out or confirm possible pathologies in time. One of the most recurrent pathologies in the cavity of infants is the eruption cyst, which is made up of soft tissue of a purplish-bluish color resulting from a separation of the dental follicle from the crown of an erupting tooth whose diagnosis could be confused with other pathologies. Its pigment depends on the amount of blood in the cyst when the dental crown fails to break the gingival mucosa. The objective is focused on analyzing the characteristics of eruption cyst in infants by histological examinations and radiographic interpretations, through a literature review between the years 2014-2022. As a result, it was obtained that the treatment of preference for the eruption cyst should be determined for each case with an adequate diagnosis both in its clinical and radiographic findings and should be managed correctly to reduce the complications of the developing tooth and the health of the infant.
