Gender violence in Ecuador: a literature review

Abstract

In Ecuador, the figures for gender violence are not decreasing. Some 5,785,295 million women have been victims of this problem. The resulting damages are of different types, physical, psychological, and social. The social commitment to this problem belongs to everyone.  Hence, there is a need to develop effective research to help reduce or eliminate gender violence. This article aims to systematize studies related to gender violence in Ecuador to have an overview of the problem. Thus, in this way, to outline new research routes that allow for a definitive solution to this problem. The results pointed out the diversity in the studies of gender violence in Ecuadorian territory, taking into account different aspects and the difficulties with the proposals or interventions applied at the end of the studies, despite their objectives.
