Abstract

Obesity is associated with difficulties in the regulation of energy that leads to excess body weight, the increase of which can become a complex health problem. At present, obesity has a high incidence at international level as a risk factor for various diseases in humans, which is why it is a topic of interest for researchers, physicians, educators, hygienists and the population in general. Due to its great complexity as a health problem, it is necessary to approach obesity from an intersectoral perspective to achieve greater efficiency in the prevention of the disease and the effectiveness of health promotion actions. The objective of this work is to propose a medical-pedagogical strategy to strengthen the capacities of institutions and the population in order to raise the health culture in relation to obesity, its causes, health damages and the knowledge of the measures to minimize its impact. From this perspective, theory and practice are studied in depth in order to design strategies that complement the integration of educational health actions in the fight against obesity.
